Divx to create a HD version of their codec

could be useful though im beginning to find compressed content irritating to watch, since I purchased a half decent lcd, I can really see how compression degrades the image.

Channel 4

Channel 4 in the UK are now offering all their content for the last 24 years on online

The service is called VoD, downloads are as cheap as 99p (50 cents)
I havent used since it wont work with Firefox or VIsta.

I sent them a mail moaing about this.

” Hi I’m afraid quite disappointed with your VoD service, it’s a great
idea and channel 4 should be proud of taking a lead in VoD in the UK,
however imagine my dismay when I find your service only works with Internet
Explorer (I use Firefox) most people with any knowledge of PCs avoid IE like
the plague (though IE7 has improved things quite a lot).
Also your program will not run on Windows Vista I’m sure it probably would
but your system check wont it even let it start.”

And they replied

Thank you for your email regarding 4oD.

We are sorry to that you are disappointed with 4oD. You are only required to have IE 5.5 or above installed and you can continue to use Firefox for surfing the web.

A Vista version of 4oD will be available next year.

If you require further information, feel free to email me back or visit http://help.channel4.com/4oD/

BONG !!! my very first ever blog entry

Err em err…well? What the hell I’m I supposed to bloody write?
Well ok running vista rtm at the moment, and I have to say I’m impressed.
Install was quick and easy, 64 bit, 32 bit and all versions of vista are all included on the same disk. I know geeks are not supposed to care about looks but fuck that! I like pretty visuals and vista fits the bill.

I have noticed no performance hit over XP

(I’m running a AMD 3800 x2, 1GB DDR 3200 ram, 7900 gt over locked)

One little feature I really love, in “Folder Options” on the View tab a new entry has appeared, “Use checkboxes to select items”.

This causes checkboxes to appear in windows explorer, this is very handy since you can now select items as if you’re using control click.

Hers a very useful link it tells the difference between each version of Vista.
